Profile:

Having recently graduated from the University of Edinburgh, I am seeking an entry-level IT position, with scope for advancement. Along with my technical background, I am interested in the customer service, financial and administrative fields. I am a flexible, easy going person equally comfortable in small or large teams, as well as working alone. I have worked in the NHS where I was involved with medical records and database systems. I have also performed voluntary work in the Education sector.

At present I am based in Newcastle upon Tyne, and am willing and able to relocate at short notice within the UK or abroad.

Summer 2005:

Database Administrator at Visual Impairment Scotland, Edinburgh.

Gained useful experience working with large databases and medical records. The post also required me to communicate directly with the beneficiaries and their parents thus helping develop my one-to-one communication skills.


Summer 2004

Work Shadowing at Microvalue Computer, Newcastle - Leisure Software studios. Shadowed staff, discussed project requirements and design considerations as well as management functions related to the design and theory of software development projects. Involvement in website design and implementation.


2002-2003:

Teaching Assistant at Newbiggin Hall, a social priority school, Newcastle.

Voluntary Service as a teaching assistant whilst at school. Helped in various educational functions and assisted deprived children to improve their reading, writing technique, computing awareness and ability.

Interests:

I hold a full driving license, enjoy cycling and whilst at Edinburgh became a member of the University’s gliding club.

During my time at University I also developed an interest in Politics, especially the relationship between large businesses/trusts, and political organizations.

I have an interest in Genealogy and haveset up a private database of my family’s history.

I am an avid reader, especially of the authors P.G Wodehouse, Terry Pratchett, Isaac Asimov, George MacDonald Fraser, and Robert Silverberg.
